Each month members of FILMCLUB will review films for BAFTA Kids Vote

Everything from new releases to classic films and world cinema! This month, Filmclubbers have reviewed Johnny English Reborn  - which has previously won the BAFTA Kids’ Vote.

Here’s what two filmclubbers thought about …. Johnny English Reborn

Morium Ahmed, age 12, from Brompton Manor Academy in London

I expected Johnny English Reborn to be hilarious because the first Johnny English film was very entertaining. It stars Rowan Atkinson as Johnny English, Gillian Anderson as MI7 Agent Pamela Thornton, and Dominic West as Simon Ambrose and Daniel Kaluuya as Agent Tucker.

Johnny English is a romantic comedy where our eponymous hero is training to be a perfect spy. He then gets called by MI7 to find three important keys, which he needs to get from a group called ‘Vortex’. He needs these keys in order to stop a highly dangerous chemical from falling into the wrong hands and destroying the world. While he is locating the key he finds out that there is a mole in MI7, but who is it…? Only Johnny English can stop the mole.

The opening was particularly brilliant because of Rowan Atkinson skilful acting and facial expressions. The dialogue keeps you interested because it was fast-moving and witty.

The best part of the film was when Johnny turned up in a wheelchair to find five police cars waiting for him. When he sets off the police cars chase after him. Guess who wins the race?

Directed by Oliver Parker who also directed the St. Trinian’s movies, this film is set mainly in England. It shows England at its best as we get to see all its most famous sites like The Gherkin and Canary Wharf.

I would recommend this film for people aged from 10 to 100.  I would give it 5 stars because it is amazingly hilarious and magnificent. It was mind-boggling!

Johnny English is a secret agent that is trying to make up for his mistake that he was responsible for in Mozambique. The story line of the film was very unpredictable which is what made it even more entertaining. It is a romantic comedy starring Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), Gillian Anderson (X-Files), Dominic West (The Wire) and Daniel Kaluuya (Skins); these amazing stars have come together and have made the film of (which I believe to be) the year.

The beginning of the film was very interesting; I didn’t want to take my eyes off the screen – even for a second! My favourite part of the film was when Johnny English began to dance while he was under the mind control of Simon Ambrose (Dominic West). The reason this is my favourite part of the film is because it was very amusing and it made me laugh.

Johnny English is a loveable character that any person would absolutely adore! Tucker is a typical sidekick that is the icing on the cake, this double act goes together like peaches and cream, which is what, makes the film even better!

Directed by Oliver Parker, who also directed St.Trinian’s, this film was full of action packed scenes like the scene where Johnny English is in a serious meeting and his chair has a malfunction and he almost ends up under the table! I like this scene because it shows how silly Johnny English can be and his silliness runs throughout the film!

Overall I would give this film 4 out of 5 stars, the reason being that I think that the first Johnny English film was better than this one. This film was amazingly funny and a lot better than I originally expected but the first film (in my opinion) was actually better. I highly recommend this film to anyone that loves a good comedy. I believe anyone of any age would thoroughly enjoy this film!
